Topic: Clinical study of dentition distalization using miniscrew implanted in buccal cortical region

ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effects of dentition distalization using miniscrew implanted in buccal cortical region.
 
Methods16 patients were selected(mean age:22.6years, range:13-32),who presented dentition protrusion. The miniscrews were implanted in buccal cortical region of morals. The angulation was 10 to 30 degrees  (there is a 0-degree angle when the long axis of the miniscrew is parallel to the long axis of the adjacent tooth). The miniscrews were utilized as anchorage for dentition distalization. Clinical evaluation were used. Measurements were performed on the lateral cephalometric
radiograph  before and after treatment.
 
Results: Dentition protrusion was decreased. The patientʼs profile grew better.X-ray cephalometric analysis before and after treatment showed that the maximum distal movement of the first molar was 4.2 mm, and the minimum was 2.1 mm, with an average of (3.2 ± 0.3) mm.The maximum lingual movement of the central incisor was  3.6 mm and the minimum was 2.2 mm, with an average of (3.2 ±0.3) mm.
Conclusion: Dentition can  distally  removed by miniscrew implanted in buccal cortical bone.
